Robynn (Hansen) Goodell

Robynn's story begins March 23, 1973 as the second of two girls born to Joan and Chris Hansen. Inseparable from her sister Jenni, they grew up together in Orangevale California. All her life, Robynn has been an outgoing and accomplished girl. While in high school she was very involved in many extracurricular activities, but her enthusiasm and unending smile seemed the brightest as a member of drill team and as a song leader. Her love of life and others is unparallelled. It was obvious to her peers as they crowned her Junior Homecoming Queen. After high school, Robynn attended Sierra College and then transferred to Cal Poly where she earned her bachelor's degree in Business and met the love of her life, Brian. After a two year courtship, they were married in 1997. Almost two years later, Brady Dennis arrived, and then Hailey Rae completed their family.

Robynn is a model mother, attending all school field trips, helping with class parties, and volunteering in the classroom weekly. Her time with her children is precious and much of it is spent by taking trips to the park, reading, cooking, baking, crafts and taxiing to countless activities. On top of her Motherhood duties, Robynn began a new career hand stamping beautiful keepsake jewelry. With a "to do" list that never ends, Robynn still found time for her longtime passion of staying in shape. An avid runner, she completed a 5K, 10K and a half marathon. Her healthy living does not stop there. To keep her soul in shape, she delights in dedicating herself to maintaining very personal relationships with all the people that mean so much to her. Her friendship is treasured across the states. Her personality is dynamic, her laugh infectious, her smile sensational, her charisma unbeatable, and she draws others to her like a magnet! Robynn is the mother, wife, sister, daughter and friend many of us strive to be.

In January 2008, Robynn had emergency surgery to remove a mass the size of a grapefruit that was attached to her liver and stomach. Pathology reports confirmed our worst fear, as the tumor was malignant. Robynn had Angiosarcoma of the Liver, a rare and extremely aggressive form of cancer. After a trip to Texas to see specialists it was confirmed the cancer was spreading and where the tumor that had been surgically removed once was, was now a new tumor in its place. The rapid progression of this cancer forced Robynn to undergo chemotherapy and radiation immediately. Robynn would undergo a continuous cycle of 5 days of in-hospital chemotherapy and then have sixteen days off. The side effects of the chemo were brutal and there were other complications that led to more unbearable struggles (transfusions, abdominal cavity filling with blood, blood counts all over the place, and 5+ weeks in the hospital). In April, the family was told that the chemotherapy was not working, and it would be discontinued. Currently, Robynn is enduring a more mild treatment and doctors are uncertain how she will respond. Robynn has endured many days, even weeks at a time, of nausea, intense pain and exhaustion. What is most amazing is that she has handled all of it with grace.

Throughout this ordeal Robynn's husband, Brian, has remained her constant caregiver day and night so that Robynn could be kept as comfortable as possible. There have been tests and treatment that are not covered by insurance, along with travel expenses for Texas that are a concern. Despite the many setbacks this couple has endured, they remain hopeful, thankful, and "Stand Strong" in their faith and know that God will see them through this. Robynn is truly an inspiration to us all, and we at Mamaraderie are honored to join "Army Goodell."
